Homeschool & Bible Ministries Co-Op
This co-op is more geared towards bible study, ministry training, and outreach, rather than core classes. They meet 2nd and 4th Thursdays – PK-2nd, 3rd-5 and Jr/Sr High classes, and you can take one or all classes. They are located on Livernois, between Big Beaver and Wattles in Troy. Zion Christian Church.
THIS Thursday, August 30th, the first day of classes are FREE so that you can see if they are a good fit for you. Please take a look at the classes to see what is offered.
There is a MEET and GREET at 10:30 and 12:30 so that you can meet the leadership team.

MIDDLE SCHOOL AND HIGH SCHOOL SCHEDULE
11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
WAITING FOR MR.RIGHT SERIES (Purity) with Lisa Houck
We will be using the book “Before you meet Prince Charming.” Guest speakers will sometimes join the class to share their personal stories of relationships and how God has placed them where they are today. Mrs. Houck will also use information containedin “Parenting for Purity.” (Mr. Houckis the author of this book) with Biblical support for relationships betweenyoung men and young ladies.
Class Fee: $20 plus books. “Before you meet Prince Charming” is availableon CBD.com for $9.49 and a study guide for $5.49

WAITING FOR MRS. RIGHT with the Pastors of Zion Christian Church and Mr.Tom Houck (author of Parenting for Purity).
(High School boys only unless parental and teacher have pre-approved. ) Book being used is “Every Young Man’s Battle.” The pastors will be sharing their personal experiences and biblical references for relationships between young men and young ladies.

“THE DIVIDED KINGDOM” with Pastor John Frankenstein
Upon the death of King Solomon in 931 B.C., the Nation of Israel was divided in two. The Northern Kingdom, Israel, led by Jeroboam and the Southern Kingdom, Judah, led by Rehoboam. For the next 345 years the chosen people of God lived in division, stress and war and they continued to turn their backs on Jehovah.
Join me as we travel back almost three thousand years to visit this dynamic time in history.
Class Fee: $10

ART with Andrea Hulley
Students learn in depth knowledge of color theory and how to apply it thru pop art portraits, learn about art history and how to paint like a master. Class is designed to allow the student to build confidence with color, shading and composition thru the use of pencils, acrylics, pastels and markers. Basic drawing techniques are recommended prior to taking this class but not limited to registration for this class.
Class Fee: $30 plus $25 per student annual fee for materials (See “ART” Below)
3:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m.
PHOTOGRAPHY 101 with Ron Allen
This class will provide an introduction to digital photography. The class will provide the student with a solid foundation for working with a camera, lenses, and basic accessories as well as understanding the concepts of exposure, composition, depth of field, white balance, color theory, digital file types, photographic styles and genres.
Class Fee: $25
Requirements: The student should have a Digital SLR camera to use.
Class Size: Maximum of 8 students
ELEMENTARY GRADES 3 – 5 SCHEDULE
1 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
ART with Andrea Hulley
Students will learn basic color theory thru painting, simple perspective, and other mixed media. An example of mix media use is the creation of an Impressionistic Painting using markers on clear acetate. No previous art experience necessary.
Class Fee: $30 plus $25 per student annual fee for materials (See “ART” Below)
1 :30 p.m. – 2 p.m.
WALKING IN THE SPIRIT with Susan Foster

2 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.
FREE PLAY TIME parental supervision required
Students will have the opportunity to use the large motor skills room to play or enjoy a snack provided by parents. Parents will need to clean up after their children.
2:30 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Music with Arin Rentz
Students will explore various worship songs with the hope that we will be able to perform for the church during a Wednesday night service.

Godly Character with Jennifer Gillette
Students will explore Godly characteristics using a variety of media and discusion.
Class fee: $8

Students will learn about drawing and painting, texture, and various collage techniques. An example of collages will include recycled plastic mural. This is a curious age so projects are geared for exploration of art. No previous art experienced needed.
Class Fee: $30 plus $25 per student annual fee for materials (See “ART” Below)
Requirements: Each student will need to bring their own smock or short sleeve tee shirt to protect clothes during art class.
2 p.m. – 2:30 p.m.

ART with Andrea Hulley
All art classes will focus on the 5 C’s foundation for Zion Homeschool:
Connection, Character, Compassion, Community and Commission.
One Time Supplies Fee: $25 per student for 2012/2013 school year
This fee covers: pencils, paint, brushes, paper, canvas, pocket easel and mediums used for any of the above classes. These are shared supplies and the costs support the use of supplies while attending the 6 fall classes and 8 winter classes. Each student will need to bring their own smock or short sleeve tee shirt to protect clothes ding art class. Smocks are highly recommended for Pre K – 6th Grades.
Good to know:
One art class is reserved for Community Outreach. Outreach art projects will be created for a student community service event for Sunrise of Troy, Senior Living Facility. All other materials created by student will be for the students to take home. Limit one canvas per student per class on days painting lessons are taught.
