Enrichment Programs in Sterling Heights
I Can! Educational Center in Sterling Heights is currently offering enrichment programs to homeschool families.
Programs run for 4 weeks from Monday-Thursday. Classes run from 9am-11am and from 1pm-3pm. Each class is $149 ($4.5 per hour). Siblings are $99 ($3 per hour) We also offer parents as teachers classes every other Saturday from 9am-11am. Cost is $20 per parent with a $5 supply fee if childcare is needed. Children will be participating in an exploration class while parents are learning. Children must be pre-registered for these events as space is limited. More information will be available soon on the website.
The course schedule includes:
10/22-11/15 1pm-3pm Mon -Thurs
Growing Writers – Students will learn how to see stories in everyday life and grow them like “seeds in a garden”. Sometimes seeds don’t grow, Sometimes they grow weeds, sometimes they grow into a beautiful flower or a powerful tree. Presentation of written “flowers” and “trees” as published works will be made in an ending celebration to families and friends on Thursday, Nov. 15.
11/26 – 12/20 1pm-3pm Mon-Thurs
Rhyme Time: The youngest writers will learn about rhyming and word play.
Poets in Progress: Older writers will study poetry by some of our favorite authors. Each week the class will look at a different form of poetry and create our own poetry collections. On Dec. 20, come with your “snappin’ fingers” to the I Can! Cafe where Poets Perform Perfected Pieces of Poetic Prose! Bring your family and friends!
11/5 – 12/6 9am – 11am Mon – Thurs
Book Club Buddies: Students will read books together then discuss their thinking about themes, characters, plots, settings, etc. After exploring books together, students will select their favorite and perform their interpretation of a meaningful portion to an audience of family and friends.
