Acting Out Kids Community Theatre is a new kids community theatre located in Clawson. This is a kids community theatre, so their focus is on kids and community. Acting Out Kids Community Theatre is unique in that it was created by kids and is led by kids (with adult supervision and guidance). They also emphasize giving back to the community whenever possible.
They encourage kids to take leadership and they provide opportunities for all kids to lead an acting game, activity or to help out when needed. Participation is encouraged, but never required. Kids are given the chance to work at their own pace. This is a non-competitive theatre for children. They also provide a safe, welcoming and friendly environment where kids can learn acting skills while also learning public speaking, confidence building, creativity, leadership and working together as part of a team all while making new friends and having lots of fun!
For community, they believe it is important to give back to the community whenever possible. Every month, they participate in a variety of community activities and events. They volunteer and perform at these community events. Everyone that is a part of their theatre is always welcome to participate, but it is never required. Children must complete and return registration forms and signed permission forms before being allowed to participate with their theatre in the community events. Parents must provide their own transportation to and from these events and for children ages 12 and under, parents are also required to attend these events with their child.
At Acting Out Kids Community Theatre, for kids ages 9-18 years old, they offer productions, monthly workshops, field trips, drop-in events and community events. For kids ages 5 and up, they offer acting classes and kids ages 5 and up are also welcome to attend field trips with their theatre group.
Acting Out Kids are currently working on a production, so there will be no drop-in events in July, August or September. The drop-in events will resume again in October on the 2nd and 4th Fridays of the month, from 7:00-9:00pm in the lower level of the Clawson United Methodist Church. The cost will be $5.00 per child for each drop-in event and will include light refreshments. The drop-in events are open to all children ages 9-18 years old.
