Choral Festival Opportunity Open to Homeschoolers

The Detroit Chapter of the Choristers Guild is holding a choral workshop for students in second grade through high school on Saturday, February 2 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Wayne. The festival is open to area church choirs, but it’s also open to individual singers in the age range who would like to attend.

Students should come familiarized with the music and prepared to rehearse. They can learn the music independently (with sheet music and rehearsal CD,) or they can attend Sunday afternoon rehearsals on 1/20 and 1/27 at First Presbyterian Church of Dearborn. This is the normal time for kids and youth choir rehearsals at First Presbyterian, but the rehearsals for the remainder of January will be dedicated entirely to preparing for the festival.

Besides rehearsals, there will be other classes including liturgical dance, drumming, crafts, recorder and handbells. The day will conclude with a short concert by the students.

This workshop is being held in preparation for the Choristers Guild bi-annual festival on Saturday, March 9 at First Presbyterian Church of Dearborn, MI. The singers are invited to attend that as well.

If you’re interested, please contact Beckie at as soon as possible for more information about the rehearsal times, sheet music, etc.
