WSU Call for High School Art

Wayne State University has announced a call for high school art, which continues through February 7th, 2013. The call is open to all Macomb, Oakland, and Wayne county 10-12th grade-level public, private, and home-schooled students. Up to two works, created in or out of the classroom, can be submitted. All works submitted will be juried by members of the department for selection into the show.

Denes Galfi, artist and instructor in the James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History and in the College of Education, Wayne State University, will select six works from the show for awards: Best of Show, First Place, Second Place, and 3 Honorable Mentions.

The awards to be given are as follows:

Best of Show: WSU $2,000 Scholarship Award and Workshop Award
First Place: WSU $2,000 Scholarship Award and Workshop Award
Second Place: $150 Certificate Student Award, $150 Certificate Teacher Award, and Workshop Award
(Certificate Awards will be redeemable at Utrecht Art Supply in Royal Oak or Detroit)
Honorable Mention: Workshop Award
Honorable Mention: Workshop Award
Honorable Mention: Workshop Award

Art teachers of the award winners will be invited to participate in the workshop, which will take place
in an art department studio on the main campus of Wayne State University. The scholarship awards will be given to students who successfully apply and are accepted into the James Pearson Duffy Department of Art and Art History’s Bachelor of Fine Arts program at Wayne State University.

This is an excellent scholarship opportunity for students who are interested in pursuing their education in art. Wayne State University looks forward to receiving your student’s submissions. Lindsey Clair

Lindsey Clair is a homeschooling mother of three daughters. She is married to her best friend Ron since 1999! Lindsey possesses a degree in Child Development and just completed her BS degree in business marketing with a social media concentration. She is currently a professional blogger and social media manager. Lindsey is also a trained musician in the areas of piano and vocals.
