This past week, Stephanie Chang, Michigan State Representative for House District 6, introduced new homeschooling policies she would like to see take place since the devastating tragedy of two children found in a freezer in the city of Detroit. In case you missed the details of this, click here.

As a homeschooler, what are your thoughts on this proposed legislation? Do you think it’s right that we should even be regulated? Now keep in mind, it has to make it to the committee this week to even get a vote.  According to Rep Ed McBroom, it will most likely not even make it there, but it sure does raise concerns and will cause homeschoolers to stay vigilant.

If you would like to stay up to date with this proposed policy, make phone calls, etc., there is a Facebook group called: Michigan Homeschooling Families Against Legislation.  A couple Michigan State Reps for homeschooling have joined the group (one being Rep Ed McBroom), and are giving advice, encouragement, etc.  This group was created on Friday, April 17th, and has already grown to 2,178 members.  Let your voice be heard!
