A Letter to Parents From Michigan Senator Phil Pavlov

The past few days have been trying for many Michigan homeschoolers regarding the recent homeschool proposal by Rep Stephanie Chang.  You can read up on full details here.

Here is a recent letter by Michigan Senator Phil Pavlov (Senator for the 25th District).

“As the Chairman of the Senate Education Committee I wanted to write you today to assure you that this anti-parent legislation will not see the light of day in my Committee.” ~Senator Phil Pavlov Chairman, Senate Education Committee

While this is all great news, as homeschoolers we still need to stay vigilant if we want to continue to homeschool (with freedom) our children here in the state of Michigan.

*Update-The proposed legislation now has a House Bill #4498 (Same as Senate Bill 0284). It contains 12 co-sponsors.

Feel free to join the new Facebook group: Michigan Homeschooling Families Against State Legislation. This was created by a homeschooling parent.  Since then it has grown in leaps and bounds.  State Reps for homeschooling are also joining the group. They seem to keep homeschoolers up to date on what is going on and if we are to fight and take action on specific topics and issues such as the recent House Bill 4498.
