AUDITIONS ARE SEPTEMBER 27
Being an extra with Michigan Opera Theatre provides the perfect “backstage” opportunity. See how it all happens without any of the pressure the stars have!
Typical supernumerary work
Supernumeraries are usually amateur character artists who train under professional direction to create a believable scene. They almost become part of the props and give a sense of credibility to scenes where crowds, court assistants, lackeys, peasants or a variety of period characters are needed.
If you are interested in participating in becoming an extra or ‘super’ in Carmen, please fill out the AUDITION FORM. That’s all it takes! One form and you could be a part of the Michigan Opera Theatre’s 2016-17 Season! As we prepare for the next opera we will email information regarding any upcoming audition opportunities and any roles available for extras in the next opera.
At the audition the director will explain the super roles as they apply to the opera and choose the supers they feel would fit the role (and the costume) the best. Auditions are VERY informal and only require your attendance.
In addition to an unforgettable experience, extras receive free parking, two complimentary tickets to a performance, two passes for guests to attend the final dress rehearsal, and a small stipend.
Be advised that you must to be available for ALL technical rehearsals and performances. Staging rehearsals may adjust as needed. Schedule is listed on the MOT website.
