“We’re creating a family community garden – and we need your help! There’s a great space at the Bennett Recreation Center to grow some flowers and veggies this summer and now we need you and your micro-gardeners to make it happen. This program will meet monthly throughout the summer to learn about the fun of gardening. The first week will focus on setting up the garden with raised beds and adding plant starts; the second will focus on maintenance will include a garden art project; the third will include activities revolving around compost and recycling; and at the fourth meeting we will harvest our materials and use them to cook a dish. The beds will each have creative themes like a Pizza Garden, Fairy Garden, Butterfly Garden, etc. There will be a rotation for watering and weeding responsibilities where the participants will need to stop by for a few minutes to assist with maintenance about once a week.” ~Paul Bennett Recreation Center

This is a parent/child program and all materials are included in the $20 price (per person). All members of the family are invited to sign up and participate, but they will be targeting their program at elementary-aged participants and their parents.
